Paint is my friend. I believe in the power of paint. I embrace the changes and happiness it can bring.
When we bought this house in December 2008, the painted walls we inherited did not make me happy. At all.
BBD and I have always been the ones to paint the rooms in the homes we have owned. As you already know, in December of 2008, I was still suffering from the pain that comes with 2 broken vertebrate, I could not walk well, I was suffering from what I would later learn was Multiple Sclerosis, we had a 9 month old baby and my husband had just received a promotion, which meant a lot of traveling.
Having said all of this, we knew painting ourselves was not an option. But hello… I had to have it painted before we moved in. I knew if we didn’t paint BEFORE…it would be a long time before I would get my walls painted.
This is how serious I take my paint: We closed on our house December 5 which was a Friday. The painters were here bright and early Saturday morning. By the time the movers came on Monday morning to bring us our treasures, the only rooms the painters lacked painting were the game room, dining room and office.
{For cost purposes, we did not paint the 2 guest bedrooms,2 spare bathrooms or Monkey’s room. I will also add that I got an amazing deal because of all the business I had referred to our painter prior to this home being painted. He was a great guy to work with and we believed in him. I had used him to paint my 18' entrance at my old house and when I worked for the decorators we would share his name with clients.}
The before pictures below are from the website that listed our home. We actually didn’t have time to take good before pictures.
Before:White ceilings, gray walls
After: SW Camelback walls and ceiling
The closed door by the towels leads to our bedroom. Can you see the difference in what paint can do for a room? Whether the colors I chose work for you or not, you can definitely see the difference in not only how the color changed the room but also the accessories.
The size of the mirror and the cabinets also stand out with paint contrast as well as the accessories. The counter height is 36” and the top of the mirror frame to the bottom of the frame is 62”.
While I love and appreciate all styles of decorating, I tend to decorate with warm colors.
My next project in this room will be to stain the mirror frame to make it look like a piece of furniture.
I will be linking up at:

Stopping in through SITS. That bathroom makeover is amazing! I just picked up paint samples two days ago to redo my bath. I love the color you chose but my wood isn't white so I don't think it would have the "pop" that you got.
It looks beautiful. I love the colors you chose.

What a difference, Norma Lee! It looked so cold and sterile before; your color choices definitely warm it up! I am a big believer in using paint ~ it's got to be the least expensive change to make {especially if you DIY}. Looking forward to seeing your mirror frame painted.
I don't know why people are so afraid of rich colors. They just feel so right in a room. We don't see the world in gray, white and black so why live a space like that.
Your choices are beautiful.
I can't believe how much paint makes a difference! Absolutely gorgeous! Thanks for sharing. Shelley (howdoesshe.com)
Your new bathroom is beautiful! I love that you have two towel bars stacked - wish we would've thought to do that!
What a huge difference it did make. I love the color you chose. It's gorgeous.
Wow, I love it! You did a fabulous job in your bathroom.
I LOVE the power of paint...though I don't like to paint myself, but always have to!
This is beautiful! Love it!

I am feeling so inspired by your beautiful paint! I am going to start working on my bedroom, which is in a very sad state. Keeping my fingers crossed that some of your talent will come my way! ;) Stopping by from SITS.
Paint is such an easy and inexpensive way to make a room more beautiful. Your bath looks great! I love the color. By the way, thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving the sweet comment regarding my daughter returning to A&M. I got a kick out of it but then began wondering, what if next December she comes back (like your younger sister) and doesn't leave!!!!! Yikes!
I recently came accross your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I dont know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.

Very very pretty. I'm jealous of the open space. Our master bath is very small. New to your blog. Greetings from Kalamazoo!!
