UPDATE! UPDATE!! Ballard inspired Alpha-Ornaments

CAMERA PROBLEM HAS BEEN RESOLVED.
These are the new improved pictures. Sorry Chris. I wish I could have posted better pictures!!

When I saw that Chris at Just a Girl was hosting her "I can make that" party I was so excited! Just one little problem...what was I to do?? After trying to think what I could do for awhile my husband showed up with the answer in the form of one fabulous Ballard Designs catalog!! I saw these and knew what I could do! Now keep in mind that was about two weeks ago. I have slept since then. And I didn't realize TODAY was the day. So very quick-like when Monkey was sleeping, I dashed to the garage and did this project. If I can do this in less than one hour-you can too.

{I do apologize for my amateur shot of these Christmas ornaments. I apparently really need to take a photog class.}
I found a box of glass ornaments and picked out the silver and blue ones that I would not be using. I then sprayed the blue ones with Rustoleum Heirloom White spray paint. When they dried enough for me, I adorned them with scrapbook stickers. I soon realized that I did not have enough stickers and resorted to using a good-ole paint pen.

I have tried manual and automatic on my camera and I can NOT get good shots of these. ANYWAY...I hope that you get the idea. One thing I would suggest: use Mod Podge over the stickers to ensure they stay put. Yes, that is a "live" shot of my Christmas tree. We are having an Ugly Christmas Sweater Party in two weeks.

  1. This is a really good idea! Don't worry about the photos. I have some old bulbs I will use...never thought to spray paint them even though I spray paint everything else!! I even have some cute rub on letters that I am going to try. Thanks!

  2. Very clever, Norma Lee! I don't think I saw those in the catalog, but I love this idea! I can make some for myself and to give as gifts. Gotta love it!

  5. What a crafty idea!

    Have you tried using the macro mode? I'm not sure what kind of camera you have but on my Canon there is a "flower" icon you can select to get it to macro mode (for close-up shots). Then you just take the picture as usual.
