master bath needs attention

I love my master bath. You know how sometimes you "just know" when something is perfect? When we sold our house in November 08, we had to find a home quick. We did not want to be homeless with a then 8 month old baby and I doublt Mr. and Mrs. M or my parents would have wanted to host us indefinitely. My dear friend and realtor Kathy took us to 3 homes. That's it. We were limited because we had to have a one story. I was in so much pain that day. We entered the home, went through the dining room and into the butler's pantry. That is all I remember. I was in so much pain that I couldn't even focus on the home. I didn't even do a walk through. At that moment I did not even care. BBD told me about the house and it sounded fine. We made an offer. We knew God was taking care of us because He always does and we got the house. Sometimes we force things that aren't meant to be. This house was custom designed by the previous owner who was a Parkinsons patient. Another sign.

This is my master bath. It needs some attention. This is one of the reasons the house is perfect. The counter. It is taller than my hips. If I had only had this bathroom when my back was broken. You don't realize how much it hurt to brush my teeth and then lean over the sink in my old house.

This parsons chair is perfect for blow drying my hair. See the top drawer on the left? I pull that drawer out and rest my arm on it when I am blow drying my hair. {My arms are fatigued. One of the joys of MS.}

{Sorry about the pictures. I am dizzy today and can't edit or even tell how blurry they are.}

My mirror is gianormous. Don't know the measurements but I do know it needs to be stained.

This fleur de lis is huge. Everything is bigger in Texas, right?
Seriously, it is huge and heavy. But it is fabulous. Don't know why I didn't take off my diva necklace.

This is the closet door. I like to double up on my towels. It makes things pretty.

Another reason this house was meant for us. The shower is oversized with a built in bench. Perfect for days when my knees won't hold me up.

See the white towel draped over the shower? It is a shower tub mat. Mrs. M. suggested in her sisterly ways that the previous, standard fuzzy bath mats that I had in my old house needed to go. I took her advice. I am never turning back. This tub mat is like the ones at hotels. The great thing is it can be thrown in the wash with the whites, be bleached and desanitized much easier than my old fuzzy mats. Are you interested? Do yourself a favor. Go to Wal-Mart, Target, wherever you buy your linens and purchase one. You'll thank me. Or Mrs. M.

That fan is from Mrs. M. I couldn't move it because it is really heavy. I do not know why they dont install fans in the bathrooms...especially in Texas. My bathroom never fogs but it feels like an oven when you start a blow dryer and add the heat from a straightner. Anyway, a girl with MS has to have a fan in the bathroom for such beautification processes. It is a life saver.

The REAL reason I took this picture is the window. I need a mistreatment. I am picturing a valance with beaded trim for sure. What do you suggest? Balloon shade? Something with flaps to show an underlying fabric? It needs to be a mistreatment because I'm watching my money and I can't sew.

Did you see my no-sew, "mis-treatment" post, Norma Lee? {It's from Monday and is "Metamorphosis Monday and a Mis-Treatment"}. I used fabric and trim I already had and used hot glue. You could also probably use hem tape. I also used tassel trim, but you could use the beaded you mention. It is held up with upholstery tacks. It may be just what you are thinking of.

Love your bathroom ~ the color is great, I love your ginormous fleur de lis and your decor!

I love your bathroom. I, too, love the fleur-de-lis! You know that statement -- when in doubt, go bigger? Well done. It's beautiful.
